Meet Alina Johnston
Hello There, I’m Alina (the magic behind Wild&Whim). I’m super excited you’re considering me for this marvellous time in your life. Every couple has an amazing story to share and so I’m secretly doing Happy Dances with delight for you! If I could continue to plan and get married again, again I totally would but my husband would get annoyed!
Most days I’m behind my computer having a cup of tea because I actually don’t like the taste of coffee- crazy eh! I go for beach walks and love collecting sea shells. A bit of an inspiration kind of thing!
I love, love, love anything sweet, tasty, chocolate, yummy, scrumptious treats!! My absolute favourite dessert is this Chocolate Lava Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream…
My journey into wedding planning
It all just kind of happened! A bit of a long story but bear with me. After I graduated from University I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life- like most early twenty-year-olds. I applied and starting working in the entertainment department onboard cruise ships. How amazing this was- to be able to travel the world and get paid to do it. Fast forward a few years I met my now hubby a Kiwi Officer whose career was driving these big vessels. Fast forward some more we settled in NZ and just got married in Hawaii earlier this year. It was seriously the best day ever. The build-up, the planning and the day of. It was everything I had dreamt it would be. Having a destination wedding I knew we needed a bit of help. We worked closely with some amazing vendors and the most wonderful wedding planners. They really helped me solidify my transition into Wedding Planning. I honestly love love. Not to get too mushy and gushy but I believe in sturdy marriages and support my couples to not only craft a gorgeous wedding but a beautiful marriage.
Favourite things to do
I love hiking, beach walks and anything outdoorsy. I enjoy a good Mimosa and Sunday Funday brunches. As you may have guessed I love Pineapples. My obsession started way before the Pineapple trend came out! I love anything with an Anchor print on it! I love living in New Zealand but Vancouver will always hold a special place in my heart.
My advice to you
Go with your gut. Find that perfect fit and BFF in your wedding planner and stay true to yourself.
